The Essential Guide - DIY Laundry Liquid

Laundry Liquid

Although thinner than what you might be used to with commercial laundry liquids, this one still packs a punch and cleans clothes remarkably well.
For a white or light coloured load of washing you may also wish to add some DIY Laundry Whitener to your wash.

Total Time: 10 minutes
Makes: 7 Litres

Equipment

  • Bottles or jars with a watertight lid (preferably glass - see notes)
  • Bucket big enough to hold 7 litres
  • Whisk
  • Measuring cups or jug

Ingredients

Essential Oils

  • 10 - 100 drops preferred essential oils see notes below

Instructions

  • Add castile soap, sodium bicarbonate and sea salt to a bucket
  • Fill the bucket with 7 litres of hot tap water
  • Stir/whisk to combine ingredients
  • Pour combined mix into smaller bottles or jars
  • Add preferred combination of essential oils to each bottle or jar. I usually add 12-20 drops per 800ml
  • Shake before each use.  You will need between ¼ - ½ cup for each wash depending on load size and dirtiness

Notes

I re-purpose 800ml VOSS water bottles as they are water tight and a good size for shaking and pouring.  I get nearly 8 bottles of laundry liquid and make each one a different oil combination.....just because I can!
Essential oil combinations you could try:
Grapefruit + Lemon + Lavender
On Guard + Citrus Bliss
Peppermint  + wild orange
Lavender + Rosemary
Lavender + Lemon
Lemon + Tea Tree
Lemongrass + Lavender + Eucalyptus
Lavender + Lime + Spearmint (my favourite!)
Douglas Fir + Tea Tree + Cypress
Purify Blend on it's own
Lemongrass on it's own
